Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,

I am filing this petition in order to change a credit I am currently in (FILM511) from a credit into the micro-credential that is offered as part of this course. I was informed of the ability to take it as a micro-credential upon beginning the course, but it sounded like there were some issues with this process (I know that even this week they were still reassuring students that it would be sorted out 'shortly'). However, I have realized during this semester that, as I will be required to take an additional year to finish my degree program, it makes more sense for me to take this as a microcredential as I will hit the required number of credits anyway as part of my plan for next year (which includes an undergraduate dissertation and multiple language courses required for my MA plans). I do not feel this is an unreasonable request, as the nature of the microcredential was unclear until recently, and I have participated fully in the course up until this time, as my professor will attest. The microcredential will be beneficial to my MA applications, on a transcript which I feel already reflects the care and effort I have put into my work over the last four years.

Thanks,

Ethan Chilcott, 20163957

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I am not sure what exactly I should include here, as I intend to fully complete the certificate (microcredential) as my peers in the class are doing, putting in the same amount of work as I have thus far, just for a slightly different form of credential, the nature of which has admittedly has been a tad unclear but I feel will be better for my MA applications. As stated in my letter of appeal, I feel my transcript speaks for itself, and I know professors who will vouch for my academic integrity and rigour should that become a factor in this decision; however, I do not see why I should not be allowed to acquire the same credential that other students in the course are receiving.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Ethan Chilcott
