Petition Letter: Dear Sir/Madam,
How is everything going, hope all is good. Recently I just received my midterm and sincerely it wasn??t the best (2.5%) and to be very honest I am not shocked about it, Ive been having a lot of struggles in the course sorely down to my own ability which is why this very poor score doesn't come as a surprise to me, As a student i know it is my own responsibility to make sure my grades are up to the standard of a Queen's Student but in this particular course i have not been able to meet up with the requirements. Please id really appreciate your help and support, Thank you so much

- The Associate Dean's decision did not follow the rules of procedural fairness. A breach of procedural fairness includes such things as the Associate Dean failed to:
- Make a reasonable decision in your appeal. A “reasonable” decision is one that is based on evidence, thought out and supported by facts and logical inferences from the facts. To be reasonable, the decision must contain adequate reasons for the conclusions.

Appeal Letter: Dear Sir/Mam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to appeal against the denied petition to drop MATH 112. I believe that it is a reasonable decision to drop the course, and this can be supported by a lot of evidence.
As you may know, I received a midterm grade of 2 percent (2/100) about three weeks ago. This grade alone proves that I do not have a good understanding of the course content. In addition, I received this grade after the deadline to drop courses, which is unlike any other course I have taken.
I have tried to learn the material better by meeting with the instructor to go through practise problems, among other things. But despite my greatest efforts, I've been unable to advance at all. I am now in a challenging scenario as the semester's finish draws near and I have little to no grasp of the course material.
Although I am aware that abandoning a course is not an easy choice, I feel that it is the best one for me right now. If I can't drop this class, I won't know anything about the content heading into the exam, which will probably get me a failing grade. In addition to harming my academic record, this would put me behind schedule in my degree programme.
I want to draw your attention to a few more reasons that back up my request to drop MATH 112. First of all, I've always had trouble keeping up with the pace of the lectures in maths classes I've taken in the past. Second, I haven't been able to manage the workload for this course with my other classes and obligations. It has been too much.
I've also looked into other choices, like getting a tutor and going to study groups, to help me comprehend the subject better. I've tried my best to make improvement, but I've been unable to do so significantly.
I want to be clear that I am not requesting favours or leniency. Instead, I am merely requesting the chance to discontinue this course and escape the drawbacks associated with failing a class.
In conclusion, I think my best line of action right now is to drop MATH 112. I've given a lot of evidence to back up this choice, such as my subpar midterm grade, previous math difficulties, the heavy workload, and my futile attempts to increase my comprehension of the subject.

New Information: Dear Sir/Madam,
In addition to my previous letter along with more supporting evidences i am here to reinstate on why i believe it is a reasonable decision for me to drop the course MATH112. As seen in the supporting document my midterm grade of 2.5% was given back to me two weeks after the academic deadline to drop classes which was not the case for any of my other classes, too add my CISC 121 professor made it her top priority to hand in our midterm grades before the academic deadline. Yes i know if i kew i was struggling the class i should have dropped it way before but i am not someone who gives up, i wanted to test my abilities with the midterm but ultimately it was too much for me. In the original letter i submitted earlier, in the support documents i included my midterm solutions although you might not understand whats going on if you show that to any of the Linear Algebra professors here, the first thing that would come into their heads is a student with no clue. I want to be clear that I am not requesting favours or leniency. Instead, I am merely requesting the chance to discontinue this course and prevent the drawbacks associated with failing a class. In conclusion, I think my best line of action right now is to discontinue MATH 112. I've backed up my choice with a lot of facts, including my terrible midterm grade which was given to me two weeks after the academic deadline.
