Appeal Letter: Dear Academic Dean Jen

I am writing this appeal letter in regards to the response of dropping my Winter Term Classes of 2023. The response in my first petition was to not allow the drop as the circumstances did not fit the timeline correctly. In this letter and the following documents I will be providing new evidence that was not available at the time of the first petition, that I believe should allow for a new examination of the appeal.
I had my second surgery for my medical condition at the end of April, I was told about this surgery early this year and had my first appointment to talk about if I was a candidate for the surgery in January, I was then sent for X Rays and had my follow up in February. I was told that we could go ahead with the surgery but it was a waiting game as to when. To my surprise I had my Pre-surgical appointment March 22nd, after that my mind was fully on my health and those needs rather than fully on my school work. During this same period I contacted the Academic Advisors and had an appointment to see what I could do and she advised me to petition to drop classes after the drop date as that had passed. I had the surgery at the end of April and hopefully will start physiotherapy soon for the recovery. During this period I also caught pneumonia and a few weeks later got COVID-19 which messed with my diabetic medical condition as well. In addition I have been experiencing heart health issues as well which I brushed off for a bit but have finally made an appointment with my family doctor to get a referral to a cardiologist hopefully.
My health needs take a large amount of my focus and often due to that dates fall through the cracks such as the date to drop classes. In addition to all of this my health insurance is only available to me if I am enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits in the Fall and 6 credits in the Winter semesters for schooling, as such losing my health insurance would put me out of pocket for a large amount of money each month for healthcare needs. I am in the process of applying for ODSP but it takes a while to submit the application and get a response.
I am appealing the decision in hopes of either getting the classes dropped so that I do not have to withdraw or to see if I would be able to take classes at another school knowing that they would not count towards my credits here.
