Petition Letter

Petition Letter: In April 2022 I was violently carjacked at gun point in a residential area of midtown Toronto outside a friends house. I did seek trauma therapy which was helpful. The move to Kingston and being on my own has triggered my anxiety and I have had a very tough start to the year. I have been in constant touch with my doctor regarding the adjustment and we both felt it beneficial for me to start anti-anxiety medication. It does take a good 4-6 weeks to work. I have also been in touch with the wellness center at Queen's University. I finally feel I am in a much better place; I feel settled and feel equipped to cope with the stress of the first year. Unfortunately, one of my triggers was the religion course. I felt overwhelmed and I really did not want to drop it. I wanted to push myself and not be a quitter,? but I also felt lost. In the end, it became too much for me but I missed the drop date. Making decisions and not doubting myself has been an issue since the carjacking and I am working to get my confidence back. Deciding to drop the course feels like I am moving in that direction as I am certain at this time continuing with it would be too much.
I am hoping given the extenuating circumstances you might consider allowing an exception to the drop date. As it stands I am left with an F. I understand I can appeal the failure but am writing to you in hopes of reversing that decision without appeal and allowing this past the date withdrawal.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I plan to take a lighter course load in the next years ahead to succeed.
