Petition Letter: Dear Academic Board,
I am writing to appeal my academic performance and explain the extenuating circumstances that have directly affected my ability to perform to my best academic standards. I am writing to request that you consider these circumstances when reviewing my grades. My letter is a reflection of my medical note as well.
During the past year, I have been facing significant personal challenges that have affected my health and well-being. Specifically, I have been diagnosed with Covid-19 twice, which left me bedridden and unable to complete my studies. I have also been diagnosed with a tumour in my left femur that I am currently seeking treatment for, and my condition has worsened, and due to Covid-19, I have been left very weak and fragile.
As a result of my condition, I have also been experiencing cognitive impairment and brain fog, which has made it difficult for me to remember and communicate. This includes reading and writing as well. I have severe difficulty concentrating, memory problems, and confusion. Unfortunately, my courseload became overwhelming, and this has really impacted my learning and concentration on the course.
Despite my efforts to keep up with my studies, these personal circumstances have significantly affected my academic performance. I understand the importance of academic achievement, but these extenuating circumstances have been beyond my control.
Therefore, I am appealing to you to consider my circumstances and grant me some leniency regarding my academic performance. I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide me in this matter, whether it is an extension for assignments, additional support to help me keep up with the coursework or a re-evaluation of my grades based on the difficulties I faced.
I hope that you will take my appeal into consideration and grant me the assistance and support I need to overcome these challenges and achieve my academic goals.
