Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Regards, Academic Board Members

This petition is a request to remove two courses: Cognitive Science and Canada in the Third World. I recognize the significance of meeting academic requirements, and I do not make this choice carelessly. However, extenuating circumstances have made it difficult for me to complete these courses successfully.

As a freshman at Queens University, I was anxious to pursue my studies and achieve my academic objectives. This year, I was unable to complete my coursework in a timely fashion due to serious health problems. Physical and mental health difficulties made it challenging for me to keep up with the rigorous course requirements.

I fell behind in my coursework despite my best efforts to keep up with the course's tempo. I had difficulty completing assignments and preparing for exams. I failed both Cognitive Science and Canada in the Third World as a result. However, I am not disheartened and am confident that I can work diligently this summer and over the next few years to improve my GPA and become a successful Queens University undergraduate student.

One of the greatest errors I made was overestimating my abilities and neglecting the option to seek assistance from academic advisors and professors. When I needed assistance and resources, I did not seek them out, which ultimately led to my downfall. I now understand that asking for assistance is not a sign of frailty, but rather of strength and determination to succeed.

I am aware that the deadline for dropping courses has passed, but the extenuating circumstances I mentioned previously prevented me from dropping these courses earlier. I sought assistance from my instructors and academic advisors as soon as I realized I was having difficulty with these courses. They suggested that I contemplate dropping the classes, but the deadline had passed by then.

I am aware of the consequences of dropping courses and am prepared to embrace them. I am aware that discontinuing these courses will delay my graduation, but I am willing to take on additional coursework and work harder to make up for lost time. I am devoted to being a successful student at Queens University and am willing to put in significant effort to attain my academic objectives.

I am confident that dropping these classes will enable me to concentrate on and perform better in my other classes. I have already consulted with my academic advisors and devised a plan to retake these courses when I am better equipped to manage the coursework.

In conclusion, I am requesting permission from the Academic Board to discontinue Cognitive Science and Canada in the Third World. I am willing to embrace the repercussions of dropping these classes and am committed to working harder in my remaining classes to make up for the lost time. I am committed to achieving academic success at Queens University and am willing to seek out the necessary resources and assistance.

I?appreciate your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Amina
