Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Good Afternoon,
My name is Shannon Little and I am writing this petition to be able to register the MATH 121 summer course after the deadline.
Before the deadline I was only able to register for PSYC 100 as a summer course because the summer tuition for one course was more than I expected and could not register for two at that time. Seeing how I wanted to do PSYC 100 for the summer and was not registered for it for the past two terms I chose to register for that course instead of MATH 121 without seeing my final grade for that course.
Earlier this morning (Thursday May 11th) I found out that I did not pass MATH 121 and was not able to swap it with PSYC 100, and unfortunately the deadline to add a summer course was May 5th. This would also have given me not a lot of time to see my final grade.
I did not perform my best during MATH 121 as in the beginning I was dealing with being new to university, however, it transitioned into depression which I am now seeing a therapist for. This depressive state lasted from October to until the end of March, this affected my study and sleep habits and my ability to reach out for help with my professors and the TA's, this interruption made it difficult to me to earth up and learn a significant amount of the course content to be able to pass the course.
Thankfully, I am at a better place now, I have gotten back into my proper study habits through communicating with friends/family and counselling, and will make sure to take as much advantage to taking MATH 121 as possible.
Kind Regards,
Shannon Little.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: For my academic plan I learned that in the beginning of the school year I wished to be in the Life Science program and took all of the prerequisites courses needed, however, as much as I enjoyed meeting all of the people there I noticed that I wasn't able to keep up with everything and found more of a passion with the biology program plan. I enjoyed BIOL 103 the most out of all of my courses and found that I connected more with the upper year courses in that program rather than Life Science.
I will also be meeting weekly with my therapist to help support my mental health as well as perhaps making an effort to take a lighter course load to not feel too cramped.
