Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear faculty and staff/ To whom it may concern,

This is Linda from 4th year undergraduate study. I was originally planning on graduating in this spring, however I failed 1 course in winter term leading to a missing 3 units and thus my current graduation status was withdrawn.
I have contacted professor Laura regarding my situation and she suggested that I redo the course in summer so I could apply to graduate in September again.

My parents have shut down the business due to covid so I was short on living expenses, they are currently only able to help me out with the tuition based on their savings. In the past year from 2022 to 2023 I was doing 5 courses for each term and part time jobs to help myself financially so I sometimes felt overwhelmed under this situation. I understand this should be my own problem and I am just trying to explain this on my academic standing being affected under family conditions.

I probably will keep working in summer, but if I am only doing 1 course again I think it will be a big relief and I think I will be able to complete the course successfully this time.
It means a lot to me to finish the losing credits as soon as possible and graduate this year, and I hope I could join the course to catch up on the material.
