Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern,
I hope this message reaches you well I have already submitted a request to get my failed grades removed from my record, however, I was directed to send another less detailed letter to request that the decision for the required withdrawal is reviewed and hopefully appealed. In my previous letter, I mentioned my extenuating circumstances that lead to my current academic standing, however, I'm not sure what my next steps are as I am in a situation that cannot be answered easily. Essentially I'm hoping this letter leads to a future, more detailed discussion because I'm not entirely sure if I need to request an appeal if I am able to get those grades removed.
I can provide further details if needed, and I apologize that this message doesn't exactly fit the criteria for a petition letter.
Best Regards,
Amina

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Over the past year, I have faced significant challenges, including mental health issues, eating disorders, and various personal events that have impacted my academic performance. However, I am committed to improving my GPA and maintaining an acceptable level.
To begin I plan on seeking professional help and support. I believe mental health is a priority and since it is affecting my schoolwork significantly I am in the process of seeking a therapist in hopes that mental illness will no longer be a factor, as I will have the support I did not previously have. Additionally, throughout my time at Queens and in the future I will follow the recommendations of mental health professionals to manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. Since exam week I have been talking online with healthcare professionals about the health concerns that have impacted my work in the past. I have seen significant change so far and it has positively impacted my school work as I am currently taking 4 summer courses. Although this is just the beginning I have committed to regular check-ins and I follow their guidance to maintain a healthy relationship with food.
Second, I plan on working on my time management and organization. Although this was a less severe factor in my lack of success during the first year, I acknowledge that there is always room for improvement. I plan on continuing everything that works well for me, such as creating daily study schedules, calendars and sticky notes. I will work on developing a realistic and detailed study schedule that accommodates my coursework, assignments, and personal commitments. By allocating dedicated time for studying and adhering to the schedule, I will ensure sufficient time for academic tasks and avoid procrastination. Additionally I will use effective time management techniques, to prioritize tasks based on their urgency and importance. This approach will help me focus on essential assignments and prevent feeling overwhelmed by non-essential activities. I will regularly visit my professors during office hours to clarify concepts, seek guidance, and address any difficulties I encounter in the coursework. By actively engaging with professors, I will demonstrate my commitment to improvement and take advantage of their expertise. If I face challenges in specific subjects, I will utilize tutoring services offered by the university. Tutoring will provide me with additional support to enhance my understanding of challenging topics and improve my performance in those areas. I will actively engage with classmates and form study groups to exchange knowledge, clarify doubts, and collaborate on assignments. By fostering positive relationships with peers, I will create a supportive academic environment.
Lastly, I will work on my self-care and the way I manage stress. I am completely aware that I am fully responsible for my unsuccess at Queens. Although there were multiple factors that influenced my academic standing, I know that I could have better handled each situation and possibly succeeded at queens. I will incorporate physical activity into my daily routine to reduce stress, boost mood, and improve overall well-being. Exercise will serve as a positive outlet and contribute to my mental and physical health. I will allocate time for mindfulness exercises, such as meditation or deep breathing, to manage stress and enhance concentration. Additionally, I will engage in activities that promote relaxation, such as reading, listening to music, or pursuing hobbies.
In conclusion, this academic plan outlines my proactive approach to raising and maintaining my GPA. By seeking professional help, managing my time effectively, utilizing academic resources, establishing a support network, and prioritizing self-care, I am confident that I will overcome these challenges and excel academically. I am committed to implementing these strategies and remaining resilient to ensure my future schoolwork is not hindered. Furthermore, I would like to emphasize that I have been working on applying this plan to my current summer courses, and although it may be too early to tell how I??m doing in each course, I have noticed a positive influence on my grades for quizzes, assignments, discussions and general participation.
