Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I have experienced a psychological challenge during this academic year. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide specific dates as the challenge has been ongoing throughout the entire academic year. It has affected my mental health, concentration, and ability to fully engage in my coursework. As a result, I have faced difficulty completing assignments, participating in class discussions, and maintaining consistent academic performance.

In addition to the psychological challenge, I have also encountered a significant cultural difference. As an international student, adapting to a new cultural environment has presented unforeseen obstacles and adjustments. In India, the academic evaluation system typically consists of a single final exam that significantly contributes to the final grade. However, the academic structure in Canada differs, as it includes smaller weighted assignments in addition to the final exam. This variation in evaluation methods between the two countries highlights the need for international students like myself to adapt and navigate the differences in order to succeed academically. Understanding and adjusting to this new assessment format has been an additional challenge I have faced during my academic journey in Canada. The cultural differences have influenced my ability to understand course material, communicate effectively, and integrate into the academic community.

To address these extenuating circumstances, I have taken several steps to cope and seek support. Firstly, I have been attending counselling sessions provided by Student Wellness Services. These sessions have allowed me to discuss and manage the stress and anxiety I have been facing. I am committed to my academic success and am determined to overcome these challenges with the necessary support.

I am deeply passionate about my chosen field of study and remain committed to achieving academic success in my desired program. I believe that by granting me admission, the university will provide me with an opportunity to overcome the challenges I have faced.
