Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing in response to the notice that I have received from you on May 23, 2023. I would like to explain and waived that this is an appeal to the university's decision to withdraw me for one year.
I am greatly sorry for the inconvenience that I have caused to the university and my peers. This year has been tremendously difficult for me because I have been dealing with a lot of traumatic issues in my personal life. From January 2023 to May 2023, I encountered some bad relationship who manipulated me and I was forced to do many things that I didn't want to. During this time I often had insomnia and could not eat anything, and I received a lot of stress mentally. I also had thoughts of self-harm but my friends found out and stopped me. I was faced with extenuating circumstances as I was depressed and not fully capable of performing all my duties as a student, thus resulting in poor academic performance.
I wanted to have better control over my actions, so I sought help from medical professionals after going back to my homeland and receiving support from my parents. I will not go into further detail about this uncomfortable matter, but I will say that I have received treatment for my depression. I have visited doctors regarding my condition and have been advised that my condition is now stable enough after a month of treatment, so I would be fully capable of attending university.
I am very sorry that I have not reached out to teachers earlier to get help. I was going through a lot and, as an international student, did not feel ready to speak out about my issue. I should have asked for help earlier so that my academic performance would not suffer. I am sincerely sorry about not telling the university about this sooner and I hope that the university can give me a second chance. Please let me register for classes so that I can continue to attend university this September. I will cherish this opportunity to become a better person and take more responsibility for improving my academic performance. If I could attend classes regularly in September, I would make sure to raise my GPA and not fall behind in classes for personal reasons. I am confident that I can maintain my grades as they should be without being affected. For me I think this is also an opportunity to make a fresh start and I hope to get your understanding.
For your convenience, I have provided medical documents along with this appeal. This includes the original and scanned copies, as well as the signatures of the translators. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to make sure that I can waived withdraw. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me via 21zw121@queensu.ca .
Thank you so much for helping me I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours Sincerely,
Zhiluan Wang

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Due to my physical and psychological reasons some time ago, I failed to do the most basic academic performance of a student. But after during this summer I returned to my home country and ask my parents for help I think I am slowly recovering both mentally and psychologically. During this time I have been doing professional psychotherapy twice a week and will be in regular contact with my doctor after school starts to make sure my state is stable. I am confident that I will be back to my normal student self by September to maintain my academic performance.I also want to take this opportunity to be able to have a new start, regardless of my achievements or any problems. So if I can enroll in my regular classes in September, I will try to raise my GPA as much as possible.
