Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hi,
I am submitting a request for allowance to drop my MUSC 171 class beyond the deadline. Unfortunately, I have been swamped with work this summer so far and it has given me a difficult time trying to get tasks done. I had so much going on in my life that I decided I needed a break for mental health reasons. During this break, I was trying to submit the work that I needed to, but I took a step back on non-marked work. This meant that when I was working on school, I was always just working on assignments that needed to be submitted for marking. This meant that I unfortunately missed an announcement stating the deadline for dropping the course. During this time, I did see a different announcement for another class stating that the deadline for dropping the course was not for another month or so. Unfortunately, I misunderstood which class the announcement was for and thought that it was for my music class. I also did not know that not all summer courses have the same deadline.
I understand that I made a silly mistake, and I should have double checked. At the time, I was not in a good place mentally and really needed to take the time off. I would be grateful if you would allow me to drop this course late, however I understand if you decided against it.
