Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to formally petition for permission to drop the CISC 101 course for the current semester. I understand that it may be a little late to drop the course, however, due to ongoing psychological challenges resulting from previous failures in this particular subject, my ability to concentrate in the course and my overall well-being have been significantly impacted.
I would like to provide a clear explanation of the extenuating circumstances I have been experiencing and their direct effect on my academic performance. Over the past academic semesters, I have faced multiple failures in the CISC 101 course, leading to heightened levels of anxiety and self-doubt. The psychological challenges resulting from my past failures, including persistent anxiety attacks, have created a constant state of distress whenever I engage with the course material. These anxiety attacks have manifested as physical and emotional symptoms, such as rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing, and overwhelming feelings of fear. These experiences have taken a toll on my mental health, affecting my ability to concentrate and learn effectively.
The psychological challenges resulting from my past failures have created a persistent fear of failure and increased anxiety whenever I engage with the course material. Despite my sincere efforts to overcome these challenges, including seeking additional assistance like tutoring and implementing various study strategies, I have been unable to break free from the negative cycle that inhibits my progress in this course.
To address these issues, I have taken the initiative to seek support through the Student Wellness Services at our university. I have been actively participating in counselling sessions with a trained professional to address the psychological impact of my previous failures and develop effective coping mechanisms.
I kindly request that you carefully consider my circumstances and grant me permission to drop the CISC 101 course for the current semester. I have attached supporting documents, including the confirmation of my ongoing counselling sessions with Student Wellness Services, for your reference.
