Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Arts & Science Dean's Office,

I am writing you again to add a course after the academic deadline. I was on the waitlist for both of the classes after having paid off the final amount due to Solus. As I have begun working, I finally had access to the funds.

As you may know from my previous applications, I have dealt with quite a severe health condition that stopped me from graduating on time. Finally, this summer, I had 3 credits left-over, and after the first semester, finished 1. I am now on my last 2, so that I can graduate come Fall.

As soon as my debt was paid off to Queen's, I enrolled myself into 3 classes, with 1, CISC 181, Digital Societies, allowing me entry. For the 2 left-over, I was placed on the waiting list on Friday. I have been in communication with both of the professors for these classes, who are both aware and empathetic towards my situation. Specifically, Dr. Gauthier had let me know that if I was on the wait-list, I would most likely be entered in the course come deadline day.

However, this did not happen. By midnight on Monday, 10th July, I was 6th and 8th in line for FILM 260 and WRIT 120, respectively (please check attached document).

I am now looking to join either of these classes, as I see both a fit and it would allow me to graduate on time. Both professors have let me know they would accommodate a late-entry.

Whether I can be placed now, even if the class is full, I will gladly accept that. If not, I am willing to wait for someone to drop either one of those classes late, and then be placed. As stated previous, both professors have been willing to work with me on the position I am in.
