Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to appeal my academic dismissal from CHEM281. I was supposed to appear for my CHEM281 examination during the last week of June 2023 to write my deferred exam and in December of 2022 to write the original exam. However, I could not appear for these examinations due to several reasons. Firstly, I was suffering from mental health issues during both periods, including depression and anxiety which had prevented me to find motivation or courage to write these exams. I was in no condition to appear for these exams. Given my grades throughout my first to fourth year, you will find how much these conditions have affected my school performance as I have endured a lot throughout 2022-2023. As someone who genuinely loved school and actively participating in assignments and course work, this has taken a huge mental toll on me that during my final and most important year, my mental health has prevented me from finishing my schooling.
Additionally, I do not live in Kingston thus I was supposed to book an online proctoring session for the examinations. However, due to my listed conditions I could not bring myself to do so or travel to Kingston for the exams. The circumstances surrounding my mental health was far too severe for me to bring myself to sit down and focus on studying.
As a result of this situation, I would appreciate your approval of my petition. I will take every step necessary to ensure I achieve this credit during the 2024 Fall term and sit for the final exam. Please forgive me as I was not in the right headspace when taking this course and I should have put my mental health first before repeatedly taking the class and not taking it when i was in a more suitable position to do so. I hope you can understand my circumstances and make an acception.
