Dear Academic Associate Dean,
I am petitioning to change my Astr 101 grade to a “Credit Standing”. Due to extenuating circumstances beyond my control that arose in the Fall Term of 2022 and got worse in the last few weeks of the Winter Term of 2023, my academic performance was greatly affected. I tried my best to keep up with the course load but had to reduce certain aspects in order to lighten it up, but still struggles, affecting this course as a result.
This circumstance has affected my life greatly to this day and has made it very difficult for me to focus. I believe that I could have done much better if the situation was different at the time, however the mark I received does not reflect my character. Due to some struggles that I had experienced with this course, this incident had made it harder to manage, therefore changing the grade to CR would allow me to focus on my future classes without stressing over a low mark. I have always struggled with my mental health, making the weight of this mark difficult for me, while adding a lot more stress on me.
I have spoken to an Academic Advisor, my parents, and have been getting support from the SVPR office as well.
