Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am unsure how to begin this petition letter, but I believe I have no other option left. Three months ago, I received a notice of suspension from the school, and I knew it was the dreadful outcome I had feared. However, it was an expected result, as I realized I had not attended classes for a whole year. I comprehend the gravity of this situation, and I admit that my repeated cowardice led me to evade my responsibilities. Nevertheless, as I write this letter today, my intention is not to make excuses for the mistakes I've made, but to convey to you that I am not someone who only runs away and shirks responsibilities. I hope to find an opportunity, a lifeline.
Returning to August of last year, 2022, I experienced one of the happiest moments of my life. I received an acceptance letter from Queen's University. My parents were overjoyed, for them, their son crossing borders, gaining recognition from a prestigious university, having the chance to study a good major – it was the first time I felt like

I personally believe that I have made significant adjustments to my own mental state, with the help of my parents and family. While I haven't undergone formal psychological counseling or therapy, I am willing to do so if the school authorities require an assessment from me. I hope the institution will allow me to return to the classroom this coming autumn to revisit the knowledge from my first year. I am eager to relearn the material. I believe I have managed to realign my state of mind, and I am committed to proving my capability through my academic performance to all the teachers.
In case a similar situation arises again, I should reach out to my teachers earlier and engage in more communication with my family to prevent getting stuck in a difficult situation.

New Information: Dear Associate Dean
I can provide the school with a transcript of a wechat I had with my mother near June 13th. My own sister, five years old, had a sudden high fever of 40° in the early hours of June 9th. We initially thought it was a different cold, and from that time on, my mom worked in the morning, my father had to work out of town, and I was the only one who had to stay home to take care of my sister the rest of the time.
On June 10th my body didn't feel right, I felt like I was having trouble breathing and couldn't catch my breath. I thought it was because of the humid air in the south. On June 11th I started having trouble swallowing, I thought it was tonsilitis, like I told my mom, and I took amoxicillin at that time. My sister was still out of the state of having her fever go down and repeat. On the night of June 11th around 18:00 my sister had another high fever up to a maximum of 41° and I went to the hospital with my mother and my sister. That night my sister was diagnosed with a very severe case of influenza, accompanied by otitis media and pharyngitis, which could have come from the kindergarten.
On the 12th, my pharyngitis continued to flare up, and I began to run a fever after being infected by my sister. The fever lasted for two or three days before slowly fading away. During that time, I only compensated my sister to go to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen Medical College once. But I'm sorry that I didn't have the energy to check the school's news during that time. If necessary, I can provide my sister's medical records and spending records.
The red avatar in the picture is my mother, her name is Fanxuesong, which should be available in the school records. The last three pictures are my family's group, in which my mom reports my sister's condition to everyone. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to focus on my course cancellation during that time, my energy was really focused on my sister and my own condition, so I hope the school can understand and forgive me.
