Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing this letter to request that the grades pertaining to the courses I took this summer be revaluated as incomplete. I underwent major health complications this summer, and was unable to work full time, or support myself adequately. Due to my ongoing health struggles, I struggled to keep up with my studies and quickly fell behind. I did not complete the vast majority of my courses, and although I had verified absence for one month of the semester, the nature of my health problems overwhelmed me and I did not reach out to my professors. I understand that my failing grades are a result of my own neglect, however I am able to verify that I was undergoing serious health issues and was unable to complete my studies. I am a single income student, and the burden of not being able to work full-time combined with my own health struggles overwhelmed me to the point of fully abandoning my studies. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to appeal these grades, so that I do not incur any penalties from OSAP, which I require to sustain myself.

I have one year left to complete my degree, and am in good enough health to do so. If given the chance I can verify this with the help of my physician. I have attached a previous doctors note related to my health struggles this summer, and will be following up with my doctor on September 26th.
