Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing to request late enrolment in the course Path 411. I am a fifth-year biomedical computing student and would like to explain the circumstances behind this request.

During the summer enrolment period, I encountered significant issues with my SOLUS account. These issues arose when I realized that the degree path displayed online, which I had been diligently following since my first year, was in disagreement with my SOLUS graduation path. In light of this discrepancy, I promptly contacted the head of the computing department to request a comprehensive degree audit. Regrettably, my initial request was denied at that time due to resource constraints and an overwhelming influx of emails within the department.

It was only a few days ago that I was finally able to obtain a degree audit, which allowed me to rectify the inconsistencies between my SOLUS account and the course plan I had been adhering to. Consequently, this is the reason for my last-minute enrolment request. Up until I received the degree audit results, I hesitated to pay the course fees, as I lacked confidence in the courses I had been required to take for graduation. Upon receiving a favourable audit outcome, I promptly paid the tuition fees and awaited processing in my account.

Unfortunately, on the day before the enrolment period concluded, my account was still undergoing processing, rendering me unable to enrol in the course Path 411. In response to this predicament, I immediately reached out to both the head of the computing department and the head of the pathology and molecular sciences department to seek resolution for this matter. Additionally, I contacted the respective professor responsible for the course, who kindly suggested that I attend the class in the meantime.

Ultimately I need this course, I look forward to hearing back.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Should my late enrollment request for Path 411 be granted, I want to assure you that I am fully prepared to invest the necessary time and effort to catch up. Coming from a computer science background, I am proficient in multiple coding languages, which should facilitate a smooth transition into the first few weeks of basic programming in Path 411.

Furthermore, I have a light course load this semester with only two courses, allowing me ample time to focus on Path 411 and ensure I am up to speed. It's important to note that this course is essential for me to complete my degree, and I am highly motivated to excel in it
