Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern, I am petitioning for a late drop of ARTH 308 due to personal circumstances that have made it impossible for me to manage my current course load. I am currently 14 weeks pregnant, and in my first trimester I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum(the most severe form of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy) which has left me unable to keep up with course work. I have been put on medication which has made this condition more manageable going forward, however, I will not be able to improve my standing in this course. I have also been struggling with severe mental health concerns that have been filed with QSAS. I fear it is not in my best interest to keep this course as I cannot afford to bring down my GPA and all other courses are mandatory for my BFA or BeD. I have the required units of art history to meet my BFA degree requirements. My other courses this year are required for my program whereas this is an elective. I petition that I be allowed to drop this course as dropping is in my best academic interest and will allow me to thrive in my required courses this term.
