Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Keira Alferez, I am in second year kinesiology and I am also on the womens rugby team.
I started the year with 5 courses in hopes that I would be capable of maintaining my courses as well as my training and rugby schedule. Our training schedule is 4 days a week plus two lifts, captains run Friday evenings and games Saturdays (sometimes leaving Friday to travel).
I am finding it difficult to manage the time time to do the necessary schoolwork with the 5 course full schedule I have. With my team making it to Nationals and planning to be away in Quebec this coming week and also after mid terms it became prevalent to me where I’m at and I have been very overwhelmed that I am not able to keep up with all my commitments (training and school assignments).
My mental health started to get worse because of how overwhelmed I’ve become. I am feeling I do not have enough hours in the day to keep on track of all my assignments and commitments.
I reached out to my councillor to start meetings again to see if it could help me get back on track and help my mental health but I am still feeling overwhelmed with everything I have to maintain. I finally had a talk with my counsellor , academic advisor and my coach to try and figure how I can get organized and find a balance with my school and training, and we decided it would be best for me to drop a class so I could have more time to focus on 4 classes and be successful then struggling through 5.
Unfortunately the meeting happened just after the last day to drop classes, so I am writing this petition in hopes to drop ANAT 315 so I can focus on excelling in my other 4 classes and not have to stress about not doing well.
Thank you so much for your time and understanding. I hope to hear from you soon.
