Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Stephenson,
I am writing to request your assistance in withdrawing from the course LLCU 200. I would like to explain the circumstances that led to me deciding to withdraw.
Initially, LLCU 200 was a course that I enrolled in purely out of my genuine interest in the subject matter, knowing that it would not directly impact the progression of my degree. I had begun the course with high hopes however, throughout late September and October I had been experiencing an intense bout of depression. This had caused my academic performance to decline as I had begun to have problems focusing and following a schedule. This led to me performing below what I would consider my standard for the single assessment LLCU 200 had prior to the drop deadline and retaining little relevant information as I was unable to focus in class or study efficiently. Recently, I have consulted with a professional to address my mental health concerns and have taken proactive steps towards managing my situation. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the deadline for dropping courses prior to today. I am hoping to be able to drop this course as my current grade is far below what I deem acceptable and recovering the grade will take an effort I am unable to dedicate due to the load from catching up to and staying up to date with my other courses. These other courses are also more important as they are directly related to my degree whereas this course is not.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Vladimir
