I hope this letter finds you well.
I am writing this letter to formally request the dropping of the EMPR 210 course for the fall semester of 2023. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen work schedules and load conflicts, I cannot continue with this course.
I was thrilled to sign up for EMPR 210 Employment Law and was determined to do my best. As an engaged student, I know the significance of attending all classes and finishing all coursework. However, unforeseen changes in my workload and personal commitments have made it extremely challenging to balance the demands of my job and the course's academic requirements. As a result, I had difficulty fulfilling this course's academic obligations. Therefore, I decided to drop the course after receiving my midterm grade.
As you may know, I am employed at the University of Alberta as an Advisor at HR Shared Services. Recently, our team has undergone a restructuring process, resulting in a shift in my responsibilities and a significant increase in my working hours. Unfortunately, this change was unforeseen, and I am finding it increasingly difficult to manage the demands of my job alongside the rigorous requirements of EMPR 210.
With the volume of work, I must do, and my restricted time, it's becoming gradually more challenging to handle the entirety. I have to attend lectures, complete assignments, and study for exams, and it feels like I'm constantly running out of time. Even though I'm trying my best to juggle all these obligations, I'm concerned that my academic performance will be affected. I've always worked hard to continue a specific standard of excellence in my studies, and I'm afraid I won't be able to live up to my expectations.
I have looked into the possibility of making changes to my schedule, but, unfortunately, there is limited flexibility due to the nature of our work. Therefore, I have no other option but to consider dropping the course EMPR 210 to ensure I can focus on my job responsibilities while adjusting to my circumstances.
I understand the importance of adhering to university policies and the impact that dropping a course after the deadline may have on my academic progress. I am committed to making up for this setback in the future and plan to retake the course over the spring session 2024.
I appreciate your understanding and hope you will consider my request to drop the EMPR 210 course. I am more willing to provide additional information to substantiate my situation. Your consideration of this petition is crucial to my academic success and well-being.
