I'm sitting here writing this petition because I have unfortunately missed the deadline for dropping a course. Over this past semester I have struggled with FILM 111 and have recently noticed that through these struggles has lead to me not accelerating in the course. It has been difficult for me to keep up with the mandatory assignments in film, as my priorities are set on my other courses, that and a mixture of other personal issues. I did not realize that this course would catch up to me so quick, resulting in me to make the decision to attempt to drop this course.
Every week there is an assignment that must be done, although if tutorial is missed then the assignment won't be eligible for grading. With the one academic consideration per semester policy, I have a couple assignments that aren't eligible for grading. The reasons for me missing some tutorials is because I had to go home for a little while due to a circumstance with my family, I have been sick a couple of times this year, and I have overall struggled with juggling my courses resulting in anxiety and other mental issues. I have been overloaded with stress thinking about solutions, and I have come to the conclusion that there is nothing I can do in the course in order for me to pass. If I do not drop this course I will fail. I recognize that how I do in a course is fully my responsibility, but my lack of university experience has been an additional roadblock. I understand that I won't be able to get a refund from the course which is ok. If there is anything you can do that would be much appreciated.
