Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am submitting this petition to request a late drop for my research methods course (HLTH 252) in the fall 2023 term. Due to extenuating domestic personal reasons as well as an illness out of my control, my academic performance was affected in this course. I have been very susceptible to sessional illness this fall and as there is only one lecture a week, my occasional absences were untimely and my academic performance was affected. In addition, managing personal stress away from my home has put more strain on my academic performance than I realized at the time and it has been difficult to recover.
Due to 85% of the course being evaluated after the last possible drop date deadline, I must submit this petition as I was unable to make an informed decision before the deadline. After consultations with the school of kinesiology and health science undergraduate advisor, we came to this decision being the best for my academic standing.
