Petition Letter: To whom ever it may concern,
I’m writing this letter in hopes of getting a credit standing or an Aegrotat standing for LLCU 213. I contacted my undergraduate chair and he said that the best thing to do is to submit a petition for late course drop, credit standing, aegrotat standing as petitions and appeals process exists for situations just like mine.
On November 26th, I left back to my hometown Newmarket to take care of my grandfather at the hospice because I was told he only had a week left to live due to cancer. I was able to get his palliative care physician to write a note supporting “an emotional leave from November 27 to December 6”. I submitted this to academic considerations and was able to get a long term consideration from November 27- December 6th. I emailed all my profs and they were all accommodating at first. I had an LLCU 213 final test November 28. When I emailed my professor for that class, he said that I can do my exam December 6th. After a few days, he posted an announcement on OnQ stating that the only time to do the exam is on either December 4th or 5th. I found this weird but thought that there was an exception for me because we both agreed on the 6th. When I emailed him regarding this, he then says that the only time to do this is either today or tomorrow (December 4th or 5th). This completely messed up everything because I don’t have a way to get back to Kingston by then. On top of that, my grandfather just died and I got my academic consideration to go to December 11th. If he can’t do an exam past December 5th, he definitely won’t let me do an exam after December 11th. I can’t let this affect my grade in that class because this is the second time they screwed me over. The first time was in October when I asked for a regrade and I was told I can get one if I went to my TA’s office during their office hours, however those office hours were at a time I had class. I told them I couldn’t go and they gave me another time I couldn’t go. I just dropped it because I knew that I’d get my grade back up with the final test, but now I can’t even write that. I even asked to do it online and proctored and I was told no. I’ve provided screenshots of the email conversation between the Professor Nicaso and I, the OnQ message, the medical professionals note, and proof of my grandfather’s death certificate. Please let me know if anything else is required I’ll gladly send it.
