Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences

I am petitioning to drop course WRIT 125- Fundamentals of Academic Essay Writing

Due to a unexpected separation which lead me to become a single mother of three I felt that I was unable to continue with this course that I had applied for. I did not realize that I owed any funds as I never began the course and was unaware that I had actually signed up for the course. I have been struggling heavily and this is why I have not been keeping up to date with my emails. I did not realize I owed money until I received an email to my personal account stating I would be sent to collections. I plead with the faculty to understand these circumstances were beyond my control and ask for forgiveness with this debt. I have been working very hard on myself to become a better mother to my children now that we are navigating life on our own.

Again, I would have dropped this course before it began if I realized I had enrolled and was shown as an active member in the class.

I do not feel that I am at a place in my life to continue with further education at this moment as I am working two jobs and do not have the time or means to complete my education at this time.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. I do hope you will see it possible to refund me the fees for this course as I did not attend any classes.

Regards,
Laura Cleland
