Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom this may concern,
I am requesting to drop CISC 422 and CISC 457 for the fall 2023 semester. I apologize for this request being late. I had intended to submit this petition sooner, however, circumstances have delayed the petition until now.

The reason for me dropping these courses is that my mental health took a hit this last semester, and this has been reflected in my grades. I was unable to work the full course load this semester and decided to focus on my other 3 classes this semester. I have booked an appointment with the Queen’s Student Wellness Center to address this issue already, I am looking to find the root of this issue.

Now, the reason why this request is so late is due to the following reasons:

I had intended to drop this class in the last week of October, however, the school of Computing undergraduate program assistant, Karen Knight, was on vacation. I had a few questions that I wanted to answer before dropping the classes and had to wait until the second week of November before I had the meeting.

Once I had the meeting, I applied to the appeals page to drop the course, however, my request was not recognized. I attempted to submit the petition many times, however, I never received any confirmation of the submission. I explained this situation to the front desk at Dunning Hall. I am going to attempt to submit this appeal once more on the online form, this time I am trying the submission with my VPN turned off, we will see if this works.
