Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am petitioning for a late drop of the HLTH 101 fall course 2023 after the official drop deadline. I have been unsuccessful in the completion of this course due to difficulties arising from the Bader transition and an increased level of stress and anxiety associated with this. I would like to request to drop this course as I believe I am a dedicated student but was unable to show my full potential in this course due to the unexpected Bader transition and changes to the learning and teaching styles and environments. I have been experiencing medical issues on top of this which has made it even more difficult to attend class regularly and complete work within the timeline given. The medical issues as well as the uncertainty of Bader has created significant challenges for me mentally which translated to how I did in my courses. These issues began limiting my success in this course in October but only grew as more issues arose. While at Bader I had begun to apply for accommodations due to medical reasons with the help of the Bader College staff however, this was then put on hold as the transition back to main campus began. In terms of the medical issues, I have secured a plan to ensure that it does not continue to impact my academics while at queens. I have also been in touch with a counselor to assist me through the mental challenges and stress in order to help ensure my success in the remainder of my courses at Queens. The reasons listed above describe my struggles and the reason I have been unable to be successful in the HLTH 101 course at Bader and would like to drop the course past the official drop deadline.
