Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Good afternoon,
May 2023 I noticed lumps within my neck and tried to get a doctor to see them, unfortunately, the doctor missed the swollen lymph nodes and they continued to grow. Then I saw a doctor in Kingston and received 2 ultrasounds around October and November, of my neck. The lymph nodes had grown, and one was of a concerning size. I then received a CT scan as well as blood tests which did not give enough information. In November I received a call saying they wanted to test for cancer. I booked a surgery in early December and after waiting for 3 hours with an IV in me, it was cancelled. I then had to rebook and constantly called the hospital for a week trying to get an appointment, unfortunately, the only possible date was December 14th. The surgery had become my only option as any other type of biopsy would not grant enough information. Through these months I was under great stress and due to my recovery I was unable to take my exam. Next semester I am scheduled to do a term abroad in Utrecht and am not scheduled to fully recover until after the retake season. I am worried about how this will affect me and the 4.0 GPA that I have strived for. I have received an A in a previous statistics course and students are predicted to perform better on the final exam. I am concerned by how this may impact me, as well as opportunities for grad schools and a thesis. Thank you so much for your help and time.
Have a lovely day,
Jocelyn Adelle Barsky-Moore
