Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am filing for an academic appeal for the second assignment in PHIL 204 Life, Death, and Meaning due to difficulties contacting the professors and teaching assistants regarding a wrongfully submitted assignment. On November 22nd I finished the intended paper for the course, however I submitted an assignment for PHIL 410/810 Topics in History of Philosophy because they have a very similar title. I had just finished and submitted such assignment to the correct assignment folder a few days prior, and I had saved it to the same folder on my computer where I save all my finished assignments. The earliest that I noticed this error was on December 14th where I reviewed the previous assignment for PHIL 204 wondering why I had yet to receive a grade. Upon realizing this error, I immediately sent an email to the instructor notifying the error, and inquiring which course of action would be appropriate. 2 days later (December 16th) I had yet to receive a response from the instructor, so I sent a follow-up email to his alternative email (the prior was listed on the course home page, the latter was what he used to contact the class throughout the semester.). In this email I expressed that he might not have received my prior email due to this email’s alternate usage, I also included the assignment I intended to submit along with a forward of the previous email. On December 26th I had yet to receive any response, so I messaged both teaching assistants with forwards of my messages to the instructor. Yesterday (December 27th) I received my grade for the assignment, which was a 0, I have yet to receive any response from any of the course staff.

My intent of this appeal is to have extraneous judgment on this situation, as I have not received any response from the course staff addressing my concerns, and I would like to know if this was an appropriate course of action towards the situation. I have never made this mistake within my academic ventures, and I am not well versed on what the procedure would be for this situation. However, this issue is especially important to me because it is my last year of study, and otherwise I have performed to a standard that will allow me to pursue my further academic goals.
