Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Liam Cooke and I am a 5th year Kinesiology student. On November 14, 2023 I reached out to Dr. Lee about how I have to miss a class on November 17 in order to attend an event related to my field of study. The event I was attending was a volleyball game in Toronto, as I work part-time as a student athletic therapist for the Royal Military College. Dr. Lee instructed me to contact Milana McNamee, the Athletic Coordinator at Queen's, to get my required absence confirmed; however, she was unable to help me because she is not affiliated with RMC. Milana contacted Dr. Lee explaining that Nikki Antonopoulos (the Head Athletic Trainer at RMC) is the correct source to verify the legitimacy of my absence that weekend. Due to time off from work following a tragic loss, Nikki was not able to reach out to Dr. Lee until the day after grades had been finalized on December 29, 2023. Students that attended this particular class earned 5% to their final grade which is important to me because I purposely re-took this class to earn a desired grade and this 5% determines whether I achieved this grade. Dr. Lee has yet to get back to me on whether there is a way to make up for this 5% despite multiple follow up attempts on my end.
Kind regards,
Liam Cooke
