Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Faculty of Arts and Science,
My name is Fiona Hughes and I am a 4th Kinesiology undergraduate student. I am reaching out today as I have been having issues enrolling in courses that I need to apply to Master's programs. I have taken KNPE251, but this course does not fulfill the statistics requirements for my post-graduate programs, therefore I need STAM200. I have had STAM200 in my shopping cart since September, unable to enroll as I am not in the providing faculty. On January 8th at midnight I tried to enroll in STAM200, however the class was immediately full. If I am unable to enroll in this course I do not fulfill the prerequisites for my Master's programs, and my application will not be considered. I understand that spots are reserved for students in their own faculty, however, this course is the option available to me to fulfill this requirement. In saying this, the issue I am experiencing is not due to lack of preparedness, but simply because I was unable to enroll in this course before classes began. As this is my last semester at Queen's, and am on-track to graduate at the end of this school year, I have no other chance to complete this course.
I have also reached out to Dr. Anna Rooke, the professor of STAM200, and she said she would accommodate me in the class, which I have attached in the documentation portion of this submission.
I would really appreciate the opportunity to enroll in STAM200 so I am able to complete my Master's applications.
Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you,
Fiona Hughes

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: By enrolling in STAM200, I would be able to complete the prerequisites for my post-graduate applications and be considered for Master's programs this upcoming fall. The courses I have taken up to date have been used to fulfill my undergraduate requirements or my post-graduate requirements, therefore I have had very limited space in my undergraudate degree for any additional courses.
I understand that because I have taken KNPE251, that STAM200 does not count towards my elective selection for my Kinesiology degree. If I am able to enroll in STAM200, I plan on taking 6 courses my final semester, which I have no issue with as I plan to but forth additional time into my studies to successfully complete these courses.
