Petition Letter

Petition Letter: At the end of November, I suffered a severe foot injury that resulted in the fracture of two metatarsals. The excruciating pain, limited mobility, and the need for frequent medical appointments have made it increasingly challenging for me to adequately prepare for the BCHM 315 final exam. Furthermore, the pain involved with not just walking, but resting my foot flat made it impossible for me to attend the exam, despite my utmost desire to do so.

Moreover, the psychological impact of the injury has been overwhelming. The forced withdrawal from my beloved extracurricular activities, such as running, working out, and jiu-jitsu, has exacerbated the emotional numbness I experience, and that I have been dealing with for years. This emotional numbness has manifested as anhedonia and a lack of motivation, significantly compromising my ability to focus on and engage with my academic responsibilities. Recognizing the severity of this situation, and how it affected my academic performance in BCHM 315, I sought professional help from a psychotherapist to address these emotional challenges and ensure that my academic performance in all my courses this semester is not adversely affected. I am currently being treated.

As mentioned earlier, I have diligently sought medical assistance from healthcare professionals, including physicians and psychotherapists, to ensure proper care and support throughout my recovery journey. I should note that since YGK charges a fee for doctor notes not coverd by OHIP, I was unable to afford to purchase a doctors note; however a nurse kindly shared a picture of my xray.
