Petition Letter: To whomever this may concern,
I am writing to formally request permission to late drop the DEVS 220 course from fall 2022. The reason for the late request is because I was not aware that I did not successfully drop out of Queens, and more specifically this course until December 2023. I was in the process of trying to transfer to Queens from UBC, and decided before classes started that I would not continue my academic journey with Queen's University.
I take responsibility for not properly dropping the course and thus resulting in the inconvenience for myself and others. However, I am in the midst of my 4th year of my university degree and do not have the funds to pay for the course that I never participated in. It can be seen in my class history that I have made no attempt of submitting any class work or showing up for any exams, because I was not aware or had any intentions of being in DEVS 220.
I have proof of talking to an advisor (via email) about dropping out in August of 2022, however, there was an error on my end with completing the forms which has led us to this situation.
I have taken the following steps to address my situation:
1. I have contacted SOLUS and other departments within Queen’s for help on how to fix the situation
2. I have submitted an appeal for Tuition Fee amendment
3. I am writing this letter for a late drop appeal
I sincerely apologize for my mistake. I understand the importance of following protocol, however, I hope that you will consider the exceptional circumstances that I am facing.
Thank you for your understanding and assistance.
Sincerely,
Kayla Kennedy
