Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am petitioning to add GNDS 125 (Winter 2024), GNDS 215 (Winter 2024), and GNDS 285 (Winter 2024). I applied to Queen’s University as an Upper-Year Transfer and was accepted as such. Once arriving at Queen’s, I was barred from enrolling in any classes that required prerequisites. I contacted Admissions and was told I had actually been enrolled in the system as a First Year student. I finally ended up meeting with Melissa Houghtaling of the Gender Studies department, who assisted me, along with Jarena of the same department, in overriding this and allowing me to take classes I could not enroll in myself. In order to resolve this issue, I submitted my transfer credits for review. Since then, my transfer credits have all been rejected and I have received zero credit from my previous institutions. I was away for Winter Break and was unable to figure out the proper person to contact to help me with this problem. In getting back to Queen’s for this semester, I contacted Melissa and Jarena again in hopes I could enroll in classes that would further my progress towards graduating. However, this process is so complicated and confusing that it is now past the deadline, thus my attempt to petition my barring from enrollment. While taking these classes this semester I am going to actively attempt to resolve whatever issue is keeping my transfer credits from counting towards my degree. I am a hardworking student who is trying their best to understand the complications of the system and how I can continue my education. I received straight As last semester and am serious about my studies. The documentation supporting my claims can be found in my records and I have included screenshots showing the rejection of my transfer credits. Thank you so much.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I am planning to be in contact with the Registrar and my department until the issues with my transcripts are resolved. I also plan to work my hardest to catch up with the work I have missed the past couple weeks in order to maintain my A average. After graduating with a degree in Gender Studies I would like to pursue further education in Sexuality studies and Human Intimacy studies so that I can hopefully become a Psychotherapist, specializing in Sex therapy.
