Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello,
My name is Kindra MacKenzie (#20168995). I am a fifth-year student, doing a medial degree in health studies and philosophy. Up until two days ago, I believed that I was on track to graduate at the end of this semester. I received an email saying that I am missing a credit in the 1B Phil section of my transcript (PHIL 328/3.0; PHIL 329/3.0; PHIL 330/3.0; PHIL 335/3.0; PHIL 373/3.0; PHIL 374/3.0). I am reaching out to you today in hopes that you will be able to help me add one of these classes. From my research, the only one available is PHIL 374.
To explain the circumstances that got me to this place, I was not aware of the 3.0 credits I was lacking in this section as I have been figuring out the semester slowly through the loss of two of my family members since the beginning of 2024. I have had to go home multiple times to aid my family in this transition, and have not been fully capable of being 100% with checking emails as I was pushing myself to do what was necessary; so I focused on getting my work in and doing what I could. During the time of my accommodations, I missed the deadline to add my final credit; which I was unaware I was missing until 2 days ago. The ArtSci degree team ended up leading me to you to ask for permission, and aid, in finding a solution. I reached out to the philosophy chair, and they also directed me to make an official request.
Overall, I am asking for you to please consider the circumstances and provide a way for me to still graduate at the end of this semester. Either with being allowed to enter into this class, or with a possible alternative credit. Anything to remedy this, I am willing to do. I am a very hardworking student, and I am capable of catching up on any necessary work for this class, or another one if this is not possible.
Your time and consideration is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
All the best,
Kindra MacKenzie

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: As this is my last semester at university, I have developed a very effective method for getting to classes and completing all my coursework over these past 5 years. At my core, I am a hardworking student. Under these circumstances, I have not been able to work to my full potential - causing me to miss the deadline. But, as you'd be able to see from any of the things I have handed in from the start of the semester, I have always managed to produce my work, even while balancing my school life with grief. I will do the same for this class.
