Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Academic Plan: I am requesting to add courses to my winter term after the deadline to add classes. I feel grateful to have experienced a shift in uncertainty of being able to complete the winter term and come up with a plan of action, as I recognize I will be behind in these courses but am committed to doing the additional work/hours to catch up. As mentioned I have met with several academic advisor, counsellors and members of the consideration team at Queen’s University to discuss my extenuating circumstances as well as ways to move forward successfully in my courses. I have signed up through Ventus to receive the extra support if needed. I have sought out academic tutors specific to each course to fall back on if needed as I catch up in my courses. Additionally, I have researched all the courses, syllabus’s and ensured I felt confident in the evaluation and course content to complete these courses successfully. Along with submitting this request I will follow through with emailing the professors individually of my courses requested to add and discuss with them how/what the best ways to catch up on the last weeks of work are. I feel confident in my ability to catch up on the work I have missed and complete the course to the best of my ability. I feel supported by the staff at Queen’s, my family doctors, academic tutors and family members to complete this winter term. For the ECON courses I have discussed with peers who have completed the degree and received feedback on what the best ways to succeed in these courses are, adding to the toolbox of items as I equip to catch up and complete the courses I am requesting to add. Overall, I will ensure success by meeting with my professors, catching up, setting up/visiting time with TA’s now and during the semester, leaning on tutors and counsellors.
