Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am unable to add the courses CISC 455, CISC 474 due to enrollment restrictions.

For CISC 455, I need STAT 263, which I have not taken. However, I have taken STAT 268 and STAT 269, which knowledge-wise, contain significantly more material than STAT 263, as well as overlap the same material. Essentially, STAT 263 is an introduction-level course to the material in STAT 268 and STAT 269.

For CISC 474, there are no academic restrictions. The restrictions are time conflicts. I have emailed my instructor (c.stinson@queensu.ca) in CISC 497 and have received the message that for certain weeks, it would be disruptive if I left class early to go to another class, so she has not approved the course conflict of those weeks. I have emailed my other instructor (yosra.kazemi@queensu.ca) in CISC 474 and received the message that the lectures are not mandatory, but highly recommended. Thus, if there would be a course conflict, I would be missing the Wednesday classes for CISC 474.

For CISC 499, I have 2 supervisors that have told me they are willing to supervise me: (salomaa@queensu.ca) and (stewartj@queensu.ca). I am a waiting responses from the undergraduate chair (yuanzhu.chen@queensu.ca), who is waiting for a response from (mousavi@queensu.ca) who is away.
