Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Academic),

I am writing to petition to late drop IDIS373 from Summer 2023 and MATH387 from Fall 2023 from my transcript.

I attempted to take the IDIS373 course this summer, but due to mental health issues and condition, I was unable to complete it and unable to recognize that I should have dropped it, which resulted in a Fail. When I returned in the Fall, I was expecting to do well, however, my mental health continued to struggle as a result of being unproperly medicated. Thus, I am requesting to drop my failed mark from MATH387. If you check my transcript, you will notice that I also have a failed grade in GNDS212 from Fall 2023, however, this is an Incomplete and I expect to be done this course by March 1st 2024.

To ensure that I am more successful this term, I am attending regular meetings with SASS and Support Services, and I am also working with my doctor who has adjusted my medications and is checking in with me about my progress on these new prescriptions and dosages. I have included a supporting letter from my physician verifying my extenuating circumstances. Through my connections with these services, I am continuously working to instate new plans and courses of actions to ensure my success this term and to identify if more support is needed and adjust accordingly. My connections with these supports as well as my new prescriptions will help me remain successful during my last term of studies at Queen’s. I truly believe that I am managing my academics and health a lot better now with my support team and am optimistic about my success this term.

Thank you for your consideration.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Many thanks,
Georgia McCarthy (20160206)
