Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: My name is Clarke Smith, and I am a 2nd year majoring in Gender Studies, and potentially adding Film and Media to my degree. This semester I am currently in six classes. I would like to drop my course, GNDS 280 001, Special Topics. I have been struggling in all my courses this semester due to mental health purposes, I have severe depression, and anxiety, and went off medication over the winter break. This has resulted in severe depressive episodes. I am also on the Queen's Competitive Dance Team, and this is a full-time commitment, with approximately a minimum of 10 hours a week. Because I am in six courses, and my time commitment to the dance team, I have been struggling to fulfill my academic duties, if I have one less class, I'm sure this would help my mental health, as well as my academic career. Because I am in six classes, if I drop one, my timeline for when I graduate will not be affected. Thank you for your consideration.
