Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello, I am writing this letter to appeal my second year courses. I would like to drop these courses due to my poor mental health during that time. I have been facing depression and severe anxiety, and was experiencing a major depressive episode during my second year. I was un-medicated for the first term and I had not started therapy yet. I was dealing with panic attacks every week, almost every other day. With depression as well as anxiety, I was unable to focus on my courses and therefore my grades suffered because of it.
I was also trying to adjust to different medications to manage my depression. Some of the medication I was on actually made my symptoms worse and other medications just didn’t work for me. Experiencing a major depressive episode for the first time in combination with frequent panic attacks, it felt like everything was piling on top of each other. It reached a point where I was extremely suicidal. With all of these challenges it was not conducive to focusing on school. It was not that I didn’t care about my grades, but rather my mental health was so poor that all the energy I had was put towards staying alive. It became too much all at one time. I sincerely hope that this information warrants dropping my second year courses from my transcript.
Thank you,
Laura Ainsworth
