Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,
I am petitioning to drop PHIL 373 from my transcript. I received a failing grade in the course for my late submission of the final essay. I explained in a previous petition that this lateness occurred under extenuating circumstances. My grandmother had recently become very sick, and it seemed as though she would die very soon. The emotional distress from this situation, and the logistical difficulties of preparing to visit her during finals season, made completing the paper in the course difficult. It did complete it, and I was proud of what I submitted, but I did not hand it in until after the final deadline. I previously submitted a petition to have the mark for my final paper re-evaluated, and this was no accepted. However, I was encouraged to submit a petition for the course to be dropped, which I hope I can accomplish. There were unexpected extenuating circumstances impacting my academic ability in this course, which seems to be reasonable grounds for this petition.
