Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I am writing this letter in the hope that I can gain your understanding and support in requesting to withdraw from the CISC 121 program. I fully understand the rigor of the academic requirements and the responsibilities expected of me as a student. However, a series of recent personal events beyond my control have had an immediate and serious impact on my academic performance, forcing me to make this request.

First of all, I have recently suffered from serious family problems, which have taken a toll on my mental state and my ability to learn. For this course CISC 121 I have taken it three times (this is the fourth time). My father thinks that I am not seriously committed to my studies, thus having countless arguments with me, but after last year's study, I got a B or above in all courses except CISC121 when I was studying six courses at the same time, which is not much better but not bad either, and I ended up DROPPING CISC121 last year because I was studying too many courses, while my father On the other hand, he thinks that my time is spent on having fun and doesn't understand me. So I can't concentrate on my studies in this situation. I had another argument with my father during this weekend. As a result, which in turn prevented me from taking Monday's test properly. Therefore, I considered it for a long time and chose to give up CISC121 again.

I am well aware of the inconvenience this request may cause in terms of course scheduling and administration, but after considering my current personal situation and the impact on my academic performance, I believe this is the most appropriate decision. I have also discussed this again with my professor. Please understand that this decision was not made lightly, but rather a choice made after carefully weighing all factors. I would appreciate your understanding and support, as well as any necessary help in this process. I promise that once my personal situation improves, I will re-evaluate my academic program and return to face my academic challenges with greater determination and preparation.

Thank you for considering my request and I look forward to your understanding and support.

Yihong Chen
