Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am requesting an extension of an IN grade in the listed courses to allow me a bit more time to complete all outstanding work. This semester, despite my situation, I have managed to not only achieve good grades in three courses (I am expecting at a minimum B's, if not A's, after exams), but have also made progress in handing in previously outstanding assignments from last semester. I believe that this fact demonstrates my dedication to my studies, and that with a bit more time, I will achieve similar grades in the incomplete courses.
I originally received IN grades in these classes as my daughter was born last December, and I had some medical complications. Due to the medical complications and postpartum recovery, I was unable to complete those courses and a significant amount of work was left incomplete. I have worked incredibly hard this semester and shown dedication to my studies, and am proud of what I have accomplished while continuing to recover and learn to care for a newborn. The early part of the semester was especially difficult, but as my recovery has progressed I have been able to complete more work. I am now nearly completely recovered from the medical complications and I feel that my academic performance is not at all affected anymore.
With this in mind, due to the volume of work I was unable to complete while in recovery, I am requesting an extension of an IN grade to be able to finish the remainder of the assignments. I expect to have the rest complete by the end of May at the latest, and am working closely with my profs to achieve this.
