Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Good afternoon,
My name is Chloe Centner, and I am a first-year student in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. I am reaching out regarding an extenuating circumstance that has significantly inhibited my ability to complete coursework this semester.
Since early January, I have been experiencing significant discomfort in my bladder and related areas that have progressed into often debilitating pain. I have had consultations and appointments with doctors and have been unsuccessful in determining a cause for this pain, culminating in several visits to medical professionals, most recently this Monday morning and afternoon, in the waiting room of the emergency room. This discomfort has inhibited me from attending classes and completing coursework, while the absence of a formal diagnosis/reason for my condition has produced constant anxiety and mental distraction that has similarly impacted my academics.
As such, I am writing to see if it is possible to drop my DEVS 102 course, which has been disproportionately impacted as it is not a prerequisite. I fully recognize that the deadline has passed, and I take responsibility for my tardiness regarding this request. However, I hope you can recognize that the nature of my condition has impacted my ability to manage academics and related requirements appropriately. I am more than happy to provide any substantiating documentation relating to my condition and its impacts that you may require to help facilitate my request.
Moreover, if a course drop is not feasible, any other possible avenues of mediating this situation would be greatly appreciated. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to at least extend an incomplete grade (Case Study 2), which I could not complete as I was experiencing severe pain and anxiety because of it.
My apologies for the inconvenience, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Best,
Chloe Centner, Arts and Sciences ‘27
