Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hi,

I hope this email finds you well.

I am currently enrolled in HIST 218 The Byzantine Empire. I have been locked out of my Outlook for a while now, it won't let me sign in, although my password works for my OnQ. The issue resolved itself today, and I am just now seeing that Professor Greenfield has failed me on our research paper worth 40%. I submitted the paper as a PDF not a Microsoft Word Document, which the syllabus does ask for, but I, in trying to submit it punctually, submitted as a PDF.

Professor Greenfield did warn me about this, but on Outlook and my assignment feedback. I have been working heavily trying to put away money for next year and have also had other exams and research essays due, so I didn't check my feedback and could not access my Outlook until this morning. Since he has given me an F, I, even with my final project in the class will fail outright. I have really struggled this semester personally and was just pulling things back together in the latter half during exam season.

I understand I made a mistake, but at no point before at Queen's have I been so heavily punished for submitting work in a PDF document, opposed to a Word Document. I do not wish to fail this course, as I fear it will place me under academic probation, and that's not a path I want to walk. I'm just really freaked out and the added stress of other exams is really getting to me, especially after this.

All I am asking is that the assignment at least be looked at, opposed to an outright F. I know that is not what the work is worth. Thank you for your time and consideration, have a great day.

Best, Gabriel
