Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Throughout my time in University, I have had external events that have heavily affected my mental wellbeing. Specifically last year, my father had a life threatening stroke, which changed many things in my life.
I have been seeking help from a counselor through student wellness and we have been working to try and get me back on my feet, but my mental health has been greatly affected therefore impacting my academic abilities.
Despite reaching out to resources, I was unable to perform as well academically as I know I could’ve had I been in a good position with my mental health.
I met with professors, communicated about my situation, but there was only so much everyone could do.
I truly made my best effort, but I know that my mental health greatly impacted the outcome of my courses.
Thank you for taking the time to consider.

I did not drop the classes because I was committed to trying to succeed and do as well as I could. Unfortunately my mental health did not improve to the extent needed for me to perform at the level that I could've had I been in a better state.
As for MUSC 171, if possible, I would like to drop that as well. I did not realize that was possible!
