Petition Letter: Request for Late Course Withdrawal Due to Medical Reasons
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to request a late withdrawal from IDIS 302 and PHIL 260 for the semester of winter 2023 due to a severe medical condition that has significantly impacted my ability to perform that semester.
I suffered a severe concussion that I am registered for with QSAS. This has resulted in severe neurological issues which prevented me from taking a full course load. The concussion triggered chronic severe migraine auras which last for days and prevent me from reading and writing since my visual field is impaired and is accompanied by a severe migraine. I have supporting documentation from my neurologist which I will attach.
Given the timing and severity of my concussion, and following my doctor’s advice, I was unable to attend classes, and complete assignments on time. Because of this I was planning on dropping those two courses but the drop deadline had already passed. That is why I am appealing for a late withdrawal.
I am requesting a compassionate consideration under the university's policy for late withdrawal due to medical circumstances. I am committed to my academic journey and I don’t want my grades to be tarnished due to this unfortunate incident. This request is made solely due to the very unfortunate circumstances I am currently facing.
I appreciate your understanding and consideration of my situation.
