Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Powley and university personnel,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally petition for the application of credit standing for the Computer Science course CISC 101 that I completed during fall term 2023. My intention is to apply for credit standing.
I enrolled in the Computer Science course with the aim of expanding my knowledge across various fields of study. Having completed the course, I acquired fundamental insights into computer science concepts, which granted me course credit. However, despite my efforts, I received a grade of D- for this course, which significantly impacts my overall GPA.
There are two primary reasons for my request to drop the grade while retaining the credit:
Academic Impact: The D- grade I received in the Computer Science course adversely affects my GPA, which does not accurately reflect my overall academic capabilities. This grade does not align with the effort I invested in the course and may hinder my academic progress.
Interest Misalignment: Despite my best efforts, Computer Science does not resonate with my academic interests. I find it challenging to comprehend the subject matter deeply, leading to difficulty in achieving a higher grade even with additional study and effort.
Considering these factors, I believe that dropping the grade while retaining the credit will allow me to focus on courses that align better with my academic interests and strengths. This adjustment will ensure a fair representation of my academic performance and prevent unnecessary hindrances to my overall progress.
Additionally, I am pursuing a program in Geological Science, and I am confident that dropping the grade in Computer Science will not adversely affect my academic plan and studies in this field.
I kindly request your consideration and approval of this petition. Please let me know if there are any further steps or information required from my end to facilitate this process. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Sylvia Teng, 20373228
